David Devine
Managing Director

David has been based in Hong Kong, managing Asian mid- and small-cap equity funds since 1992. During this period, he has interviewed the management of thousands of public companies throughout the region and has monitored and analysed the long-term operating performance of numerous companies in many industries.

In 2002, David established Lynas Capital through which he initially managed a private seed fund before launching the Lynas Asia Fund in October 2004.

Before this he was a director with Overlook Investments Ltd, which he joined in 1992 prior to the launch of the Overlook Partners Fund LP. He was closely involved in the establishment and then, for ten years, the management of this fund whose portfolio focus was long, Asia Ex-Japan equity investments but periodically included market and currency hedges. At this time he was licensed by the SFC of Hong Kong as an investment adviser and commodity trading adviser.

David is a Chartered Financial Analyst and is an Associate of the Chartered Management Accountants having worked as a professional accountant in the media business in London prior to joining the investment industry.

Andrew Henderson
Executive Director

Andrew joined Lynas Capital Ltd in 2004 but has known and collaborated on ideas with David Devine since 1993.

Before Lynas he was Head of Research at Kim Eng Securities in Thailand and prior to this from 2001 was Vice President, managing research output, at Brooker Group PLC, Thailand’s leading financial research publisher.

From 1996 Andrew was Managing Director for Clarion Capital Thailand, where he initially formed and then managed their research and sales team and subsequently implemented and managed the research operation for their private equity business.

Between 1991 and 1996 he worked for WI Carr (Far East) in Bangkok first as analyst, then research head and finally country representative of what was then one of Asia’s leading stockbrokers. He was voted #1 analyst in his field in 1994, 1995 and 1996.

Andrew is a graduate of the University of Sheffield with an honours degree in Pure Mathematics and Probability & Statistics.

Jon Ogden
Executive Director

Jon joined Lynas Capital Ltd in 2007 but has known David since 2001.

Jon worked for many years in the field of financial journalism, holding positions as a market commentator with Dow Jones in Hong Kong and Business Day newspaper in Thailand where he was chief sub-editor. He had a long association with the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong which included positions as markets editor and international news editor. While at the SCMP he had a weekly column on funds which ran for several years and resulted in profiles being published on more than 100 money managers and their investment strategies. He also had an occasional column called “Company Visit” which showcased listed companies from an investors’ standpoint.

In 1997 he worked at Bangkok-based Sitca Securities as a research editor and translator.

Jon graduated from the University of Birmingham with an honours degree in Psychology in 1984. In 1985 he obtained a post-graduate diploma in Newspaper Journalism from the City University in London. Before joining Lynas Capital he had been a private investor for many years and shared investment ideas with David.
